Delvant

The point of sale moved outdoors. The payments thinking hasn’t caught up.

Advisory for payments businesses and charging networks — market entry, monetization, commercial strategy, and the security and compliance layer underneath it.

Background

  • Two decades in card acquiring and payment institutions in Central Europe.
  • Market entry, partner channels and monetization across multiple European markets.
  • Deep familiarity with scheme economics, interchange structures and merchant pricing.
  • Working knowledge of PSD2/SCA, PCI DSS and the AFIR payment obligations for charging points.

The specialism

Charging is now a payments business.

An unattended terminal, standing outdoors, in the rain, taking a card from a driver who will never come back to that site again — under rules that did not exist when most of those sites were designed.

That environment breaks assumptions carried over from retail payments. The economics are different. The fraud profile is different. The compliance obligations are different. And the people building charging networks are, quite reasonably, energy and infrastructure people rather than payments people.

Where I help on charging payments

Practice

Four lines of work.

Market entry & business development
A payments business wants a new market or a new channel and has no local commercial depth.
EV charging payments
Acquiring selection, payment architecture for unattended terminals, session economics, compliance mapping.
Monetization & pricing strategy
Revenue that doesn’t reflect the value delivered, or a pricing structure inherited rather than designed.
Payments security & risk advisory
Fraud, chargebacks and compliance treated as a cost centre instead of a commercial variable.

What each engagement produces

How it works

Every engagement is scoped as defined deliverables against agreed milestones — not headcount, not hours.

You approve the scope before work starts and you accept each deliverable before it is invoiced. Delvant works with several clients concurrently and takes on engagements from three weeks to multi-quarter programmes.
